EON Lifts Spending to €48 Billion in Boost for Europe’s Grid

EON SE will expand its investment program to €48 billion through the end of the decade as grid bottlenecks mount across Europe, and signaled it may have room to spend more.

The German utility topped up its spending plans for 2026 to 2030, with around €40 billion of the new amount earmarked for its energy networks business. It also has balance sheet capacity of €5 billion to €10 billion for additional growth opportunities, with investments potentially starting as early as 2027, Chief Financial Officer Nadia Jakobi said at a press conference.
