Corporate Governance Complaints Jump 37% in Australia, ASIC Says

Reports of misconduct at Australian firms surged in the second half of last year, driven largely by corporate governance concerns, the nation’s corporate watchdog said.

More than 13,000 issues were raised with about 5,200 relating to corporate governance — up 37% from six months earlier, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission said in a report Wednesday. The issues included failures to provide records to liquidators on company activities, fraud allegations and insolvency matters.
