Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has named a new inspector-general of police who will lead efforts to stem rising violence by armed groups, underscoring persistent security challenges in the country despite US military support.

Tinubu named Tunji Disu as the new police head following the resignation on Tuesday of Kayode Egbetokun, the presidency said in a statement.
