Ex-L3Harris Manager Who Stole Hacking Tools Sentenced to 7 Years

A former government contractor who oversaw the development of offensive hacking tools was sentenced to more than seven years in prison for his role in the sale of eight cybersecurity exploits worth over $35 million to a Russian broker.

Peter Williams worked at Trenchant, an L3Harris Technologies Inc. subsidiary that helps clients, including the US and other Western governments, leverage security flaws in commercial technology products for intelligence-gathering purposes. The firm describes itself as “a world authority on cyber capabilities, operating in the fields of computer network operations and vulnerability research.”
