Ukraine joining the European Union would give a “significant boost” to the bloc’s single market, according to Dutch Central Bank governor Olaf Sleijpen.

Such a move would increase the EU’s population by 45 million people, Sleijpen said at the National Bank of Ukraine in Kyiv last week, according to a speech text published Monday.
