Ghana suspended tomato imports from neighboring Burkina Faso after eight traders were killed in a jihadist attack, driving up local prices of the key household ingredient.

The Ghana National Tomato Traders and Transporters Association announced the suspension Tuesday after 18 traders crossed the border to buy produce and were caught in an Islamist assault on the Burkinabe town of Titao Saturday.
