Congo Strikes Ceasefire With Rwanda-Backed M23 in Breakthrough

Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi agreed in principle to a ceasefire with Rwanda-backed M23 rebels who control large swaths of the country’s east.

The ceasefire, which was negotiated in part through Angolan President Joao Lourenco, will allow the two sides to attempt a peaceful resolution to the long-running conflict, Tshisekedi’s office said in a statement on X Friday.
