Congo Accuses MTN Rwanda of Illegally Operating in Rebel-Held East

An insurgency in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo by Rwanda-backed rebels has seen Africa’s largest wireless carrier MTN Group Ltd. get caught up in a diplomatic firestorm over cross-border telecommunications signal use.

Earlier in the week, Congo accused MTN Rwanda of illegally providing mobile and internet services in eastern areas held by the M23 rebel group.
