Booming Taiwan Cranks Up 2026 Growth Outlook on AI, Trade Deal

Taiwan upgraded its forecast for economic growth this year even after a torrid 2025 on optimism the AI boom has room to run and a final trade deal with the US.

The economy is expected to expand 7.71% this year, the statistics bureau in Taipei said in a statement on Friday. That’s up from its 3.54% call in November — back before Taiwan and the US agreed to slash tariffsBloomberg Terminal on goods from the self-governed island, a pact they just signed. Exports were seen rising 22.22% in 2026, up from 6.32%.
