BOE Is Considering Outside Help for Private Markets Stress Data

Some of the biggest players in private markets are in talks with the Bank of England about using a third party firm to gather data for its ground-breaking industry stress test so that the project can meet demanding timetables, according to people familiar with the matter.

The exercise is set to probe how a severe-but-plausible global downturn might impact trillions of dollars of unlisted assets that occupy a rapidly-growing space in the global financial ecosystem. It follows increasing concern about the ties between less regulated non-banks and the deposit-taking institutions that have helped to fund their expansion.
