Cyclone Leaves 31 Dead as Madagascar Intensifies Relief Efforts
A powerful tropical cyclone that’s been churning across Madagascar has left at least 31 people dead in its wake, according to the nation’s agency for disaster management.
Cyclone Gezani caused 29 fatalities in Toamasina II district in the eastern part of the Indian Ocean island, with two others in Ambatondrazaka, the National Bureau for Risk and Disaster Management said in a statement. Four people were missing and 36 have been injured, it said.
