The Polish government has quietly abandoned plans to put central bank governor Adam Glapinski on trial due to concerns that a legal battle could unsettle foreign investors, according to people familiar with the matter.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk made a promise to oust the governor — an ally of the previously ruling populists — during an election campaign in 2023. He accused Glapinski of playing politics and threatened to put him in front of a special tribunal to investigate public officials.
