Farmers, Tractors Gather in Madrid to Protest EU-Mercosur Deal

Thousands of farmers marched into central Madrid on Wednesday to protest against European Union’s agricultural policies and a free trade agreement with a group of South American nations.

Farmers, many on tractors, started gathering before midday in Plaza Colón waving flags and blowing horns to the sound of loud music, before marching down Paseo de la Castellana, one of Madrid’s main avenues, to the Agriculture Ministry.
