Eritrea Denies Incursion Into Ethiopia Amid Rising Tensions
Eritrea has denied claims its troops are occupying Ethiopian regions along their common border, amid rising tensions between the neighbors and fears of a resumption of conflict.
In a Feb. 7 letter to Eritrea’s foreign ministry, Ethiopia also accused its neighbor of supporting various militant groups opposed to Addis Ababa. It demanded the “immediate withdrawal of Eritrean troops” and offered dialog to “break that cycle of violence and mistrust.”
