Former envoy Peter Mandelson is under pressure to return the money he received as part of his sacking as UK ambassador to the US, as the crisis over his ties to the disgraced pedophile Jeffrey Epstein threatens to engulf Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government.
Mandelson, who received a payment of tens of thousands of pounds after his dismissal, “probably should” either return the money or give it to charity, Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden said in an interview on Sky News. “Taking a payoff for these circumstances, I don’t think the public will think much of that.”
