Nigeria is in talks with a Chinese firm to potentially run its refineries after spending billions of dollars to revamp plants that broke down decades ago and still aren’t operating.

Nigerian National Petroleum Co. Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari on Wednesday said he’d come straight from a meeting with a potential Chinese investor and wouldn’t identify the company, but offered the assurance that it operates one of the biggest petrochemical plants in the world. The firm was scheduled to inspect a NNPC refinery on Thursday.
