Emperor Entertainment Reaps Windfall From Sellling Gold Hoard

Emperor Entertainment Hotel Ltd. found a more profitable use for gold bricks than decorating the sumptuous lobby of its Macau property.

The Hong Kong-listed hotel operator will book a gain of HK$90.2 million ($11.5 million) after selling 79 kilograms (174 pounds) of gold bricks that were used to decorate its Grand Emperor Hotel in Macau. The sale capitalized on elevated bullion prices, according to an exchange filing on Feb. 4.
