Rolls-Royce Seeks to Win Back Boeing Orders After Engine Upgrade
Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc said it can win back business and secure new deals with an upgraded Trent 1000 engines powering Boeing Co.’s 787 model, after years of losing ground on the US planemaker’s bestselling widebody aircraft.
Actively pursuing sales campaigns with the Trent 1000 XE will be a main focus for this year, said Rob Watson, who oversees Rolls-Royce’s civil aero engine business. The new engine, which promises greater durability, has been in production since the second half of last year, though Watson said it’s too soon to say if the model is also exceeding its performance metrics.
