Europe’s chemical stocks had their best day in almost four years as optimism for softer emission-reduction rules in the region added to a broader rotation toward companies geared to improving growth prospects.

The Stoxx 600 Chemicals Index rose 4.8% amid gains for companies including Air Liquide SA, BASF SE and Givaudan SA. Dutch specialty chemicals and ingredients maker IMCD N.V. and Belgian peer Azelis Group NV both jumped more than 10%.
