Plane Engine Shortage Shows Signs of Easing, Cebu Pacific Says
The shortage of jet engines that’s been plaguing the aviation industry for years is showing signs of easing, with one Asian airline predicting the situation could return to normal in a couple of years.
The largest airline in the Philippines has halved the number of aircraft grounded because of the lack of Pratt & Whitney engines, Cebu Air Inc. Chief Executive Officer Mike Szucs told Bloomberg Television on Monday during the Changi Aviation Summit. That’s setting the stage for the Asian airline to see growth this year and for the engine shortage to end by late 2028, he said.
