Amex Nears Deal for Last Office Tower at World Trade Center Site

Photographer: Jeenah Moon/BloombergAmerican Express Co. is close to a deal to relocate its headquarters to 2 World Trade Center, a move that would allow Silverstein Properties to start construction of the long-planned Manhattan skyscraper, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
Any deal would likely need approval from the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, the owner of the land at the World Trade Center site, one of the people said. No agreement has been completed yet and it can still fall apart, according to the people, who asked not to be named because the matter is private.
