Qatar said that the European Union’s push to ease some of its regulatory burden on foreign countries is opening the door to further gas deals with companies in the region.
Qatar has been critical of some of the EU’s ESG rules, particularly those that oblige companies to conduct due diligence in their supply chains over issues like human rights abuses and environmental damage. Those laws have been a key part of the bloc’s push to cut red tape, meaning that 80% of companies are now exempted.
