Members of Senegal’s national football team will be paid bonuses and given plots of land after their triumph in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The players will each receive 75 million CFA francs ($134,000), “a reward from the Senegalese people for a historic victory,” President Bassirou Diomaye Faye said at a welcoming ceremony for the team at the presidential palace in Dakar late Tuesday. They will also get 1,500-square-meter (16,150-square-feet) properties on the Petite Côte, a scenic stretch of coastline south of the capital.
