BLS Poised to Get Slight Funding Increase, Stay Within Labor
The Bureau of Labor Statistics is poised to get a slight funding boost this year and stay housed within the Labor Department, according to a bipartisan budget deal that’s expected to pass this month.
BLS would receive $708.5 million for the current fiscal year, according to an appropriations bill that includes funding for the agency out Tuesday. While that’s notably more than President Donald Trump’s requested $648 million, it’s less than a percentage point more than the previous year and below the overall rate of inflation.
