UK retail sales growth slowed for a fourth consecutive month in December, with customers thought to be waiting for post-Christmas discounts before loosening their purse strings.

Total retail sales growth slowed to just 1.2% year on year last month, according to the British Retail Consortium, against a growth of 3.2% in December 2024.
