Cyprus President’s Top Aide Quits After Video Alleged Corruption

A top aide to Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides resigned Monday following reaction to a video alleging “shadow” pre-election campaign financing.

“In recent days, a targeted effort has been underway to personally harm the President of the Republic, to question the government and to damage the image of our homeland,” Charalambos Charalambous, who served as the political director to the Cypriot president said in a statement.
