Kenya’s High Court delayed the hearing of a case against Diageo Plc’s proposed sale of its East African business to Asahi Group Holdings Ltd. to Jan. 20 but allowed the companies to continue the process of seeking regulatory approvals.

Diageo is selling its 65% stake in East African Breweries Ltd. for $2.3 billion — its latest in a series of exits from Africa. Bia Tosha Distributors Ltd. appealed to the court to place the proposed transaction on hold until its long-running case against Diageo, EABL and another subsidiary, UDV Kenya Ltd., are resolved.
