Ghana’s Ex-Finance Minister Detained in US for Overstaying Visa

A former Ghanaian finance minister who faces corruption charges in the West African nation has been detained in the US for overstaying his visa.

Ken Ofori-Atta has been held by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement since Jan. 6, his Ghanaian legal team said in a statement. They added he had previously applied to have the visa extended and that his US lawyers were working on resolving the matter.
