Croatia formally nominated Boris Vujcic for the role of vice president of the European Central Bank as the race for the No. 2 job at the institution heats up.

Vujcic, 61, has led the Croatian central bank since 2012 and joined the ECB’s Governing Council after his country joined the euro area in 2023. He’s one of at least five candidates to replace Spain’s Luis de Guindos, whose term ends in May.
