Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called for the state to pursue congressional redistricting through a special legislative session, officially joining the race between red and blue states to redraw maps ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

DeSantis said Wednesday he’ll issue a proclamation for lawmakers to convene in late April to rework congressional districts. That would likely give time for the US Supreme Court to rule on a key Louisiana redistricting case with implications for other states.
