Latvian police boarded a ship docked in the port of Liepāja and opened a criminal probe after an undersea communications cable was damaged.

The ship and the crew haven’t been detained, and those on board are cooperating with law enforcement after the Jan, 2 incident that damaged an optical cable, Latvia’s police department said Sunday in a statement.
