Turkey formally arrested Erden Timur, a real estate developer and former executive of Galatasaray football club, on money laundering charges as part of an investigation into alleged illegal betting.

Timur, who was a star Galatasaray executive until he stepped down from the Istanbul-based club’s board last year, was detained last week as part of the betting probe, according to Turkey’s state-run news agency Anadolu.
