ECB’s Simkus Says Interest-Rate Decisions ‘Rather Clear’
European Central Bank Governing Council member Gediminas Simkus described decision-making on interest rates as “rather clear,” thanks to inflation being under control and the economy maintaining expansion.
“We have inflation — headline and core — both now and in the near future, and mid-term, close to the 2% level,” the Lithuanian official told a news conference Monday in Vilnius. “The interest rate is seen by many as at a neutral level. Economic growth has improved though remains sluggish.”
