Whitbread Up After Activist Corvex Reveals Stake, Seeks Review

Whitbread Plc shares jumped the most in more than seven months after activist investor Keith Meister, who successfully lobbied Yum! Brands Inc. to split off its Chinese operations, picked up a stake in the Premier Inn-owner and sought a strategic review of its direction.

The London-listed company’s stock gained as much as 6.5% after Meister’s firm, Corvex Management LP, disclosed it had accumulated a stake of approximately 6.05% and said it believes the share price reflects a discount to fundamental value.
