SBI Shinsei Bank Shares Soar 12% in Tokyo Trading Debut

SBI Shinsei Bank Ltd. surged 12% in its trading debut in Tokyo on Wednesday after raising ¥322 billion ($2.1 billion) in Japan’s second-biggest initial public offering of the year.

The stock closed its first trading day at ¥1,623, up from its IPO price, valuing the bank at about ¥1.5 trillion. It traded as high as ¥1,680, after the sale saw the shares pricedBloomberg Terminal at ¥1,450 per share, the upper end of the bookbuildingBloomberg Terminal range. The IPO gave the lender a market value of ¥1.3 trillion.
