Portugal Is Ready to Back Centeno for ECB Vice President Job

Portugal’s former central-bank Governor Mario Centeno is a potential contender to become the European Central Bank’s next vice president, according to the country’s finance minister.

Centeno “is a possible candidate, but there is no official confirmation,” Joaquim Miranda Sarmento told Bloomberg Television on Thursday in an interview in Brussels.
