Greece is about to face the most symbolic test yet on its road to euro-area rehabilitation as its finance minister bids to run the same forum where the country’s debt crisis once played out.
In a vote on Thursday, Kyriakos Pierrakakis will vie against Belgium’s Vincent van Peteghem for the job of president of the Eurogroup. That’s the name for the region’s club of finance ministers, whose late-night meetings more than a decade ago used to center on Greece for all the wrong reasons.
