Polish lawmakers failed to overturn a veto on a bill regulating digital assets, dealing a blow to Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s attempts to regulate a sector he says has been a conduit for Russia’s subterfuge in the European Union nation.

The lower house of parliament fell short of the three-fifths majority required to override President Karol Nawrocki’s veto. In the run up to the vote on Friday, Tusk said approving the legislation — which implements EU standards for the crypto industry — was an issue of national security.
