Bolloré Gets Court Boost to Avoid Vivendi Shareholder Payout

Vincent Bolloré got a boost from France’s top court in his fight to avoid a potentially costly payout to Vivendi SE shareholders as part of last year’s breakup of the media conglomerate.

France’s Cour de Cassation on Friday told lower judges to re-examine the case, overturning an earlier decision that stated the billionaire controlled Vivendi due to his “considerable authority” over shareholders’ meetings even though he holds less than half of voting rights.
