New Zealand central bank governor Christian Hawkesby said there is now a high hurdle for further interest-rate cuts, reinforcing the signal that the easing cycle has likely come to an end.

The assessment that it would take a significant change in outlook to prompt the Reserve Bank to lower rates further “would be a consistent interpretation” of its new projections, he said in an interview Thursday in Auckland.
