Reeves Keeps Door Open to More Tax Hikes After £26 Billion Hit
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves didn’t rule out further tax increases in this parliament, after announcing a £26 billion ($34.4 billion) revenue-raising package to stabilize Britain’s public finances.
“No chancellor can write future budgets,” Reeves said in an interview with Bloomberg TV, when asked if she could guarantee there would be no further direct or stealth tax increases in the coming years. “My focus has been, and always will be, on growing our economy so that we can keep taxes down and have the money to invest in our public services.”
