President Donald Trump struck a positive tone on the prospects for a ceasefire in Ukraine after a weekend of talks narrowed disagreements over his latest peace proposal, even as the discussions exposed a Republican rift over how to confront President Vladimir Putin.

“Is it really possible that big progress is being made in Peace Talks between Russia and Ukraine???” Trump wrote in a social media post Monday morning. “Something good just may be happening.”
