Egypt Holds Interest Rates After Surprise Uptick in Inflation

Egypt left interest rates unchanged, opting for caution after inflation unexpectedly quickened for the first time in five months.

The central bank maintained its benchmark deposit rate at 21% and lending rate at 22%, the Monetary Policy Committee said Thursday.
