UK Plans Unified Equity Trading Data to Combat Liquidity Doubts

The UK’s financial markets regulator plans to introduce a single measure of trading in stocks, in an attempt to give a better view of liquidity levels and boost the country’s equity markets.

The Financial Conduct Authority is proposing a “consolidated tape,” which would collect data from multiple trading venues into a single source, according to a statement on Wednesday. This would give a clearer picture around the level of liquidity in UK equities, which in turn could help attract more companies to list on the London Stock Exchange.
