Katie Wilson, a community organizer who campaigned on raising taxes on the wealthy to expand social services, won election as Seattle’s next mayor as she edged out incumbent Bruce Harrell after a tight race.

Harrell conceded the race Thursday, saying he spoke with Wilson and congratulated her on her victory. As of late Wednesday, Wilson held a lead of fewer than 2,000 votes with only a limited number of ballots left to resolve after last week’s hard-fought election.
