Ethiopia Moves to Contain Suspected Hemorrhagic Fever Outbreak
Ethiopia is moving quickly to contain the spread of a suspected outbreak of viral hemorrhagic fever disease in its southern region near South Sudan after eight possible cases, including health workers, were reported.
While laboratory testing is ongoing at the Ethiopia Public Health Institute to determine the exact cause, health authorities in the two East African countries are already working closely to prevent cross-border transmission, Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention Director-General Jean Kaseya said in an online briefing Thursday.
