EU to Decide on Action Against Slovakia Over Primacy of Law

The European Union reinforced a warning to Slovakia over constitutional changes that prioritize national law over EU legislation, with a senior official saying the bloc’s executive arm will decide soon whether to take legal action.

The European Commission is finalizing its assessment and will announce a decision “very shortly,” Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath told Bloomberg News on Tuesday. He reiterated the bloc’s position that EU law takes precedence for all 27 member states.
