Willis Open to Revamping RBNZ Charter to Boost Transparency

New Zealand Finance Minister Nicola Willis has signaled she’s open to revising the charter for the central bank’s rate-setting committee to enhance transparency around policy decisions once new governor Anna Breman is installed.

“I am interested in exploring opportunities to increase the transparency of the Monetary Policy Committee so I’m looking forward to discussing the committee’s charter with the new governor once she’s taken up her role and had a chance to get her feet under the desk,” Willis told Bloomberg News.
