Mayor Who Spoke Out Against Mexico’s Cartels Killed in Michoacan

A mayor in the Michoacán region of western Mexico who’d called on the government to do more to fight drug cartels was shot dead on Saturday evening.

Federal and state authorities confirmed the assassination of Carlos Manzo, mayor of Uruapan, during an event in the city center, according to national newspaper El Economista.
