Damaging winds are forecast to rake much of the Northeast Friday, a day after record-breaking rains swept New York City and left two people dead.

Sudden, heavy downpours overwhelmed drainage systems and inundated basements across the five boroughs Thursday afternoon. The bodies of two men were recovered from flooded buildings in Manhattan and Brooklyn, police said.
